April 2026 Newsletter: Threads of Tradition — Celebrating Tribal Life & Legacy

Every compassionate effort brings new hope, dignity, and lasting change to tribal communities. As we move deeper into 2026, India Tribal Care Trust continues its mission across multiple fronts — from building residential facilities for tribal students to launching digital literacy programmes and nurturing holistic growth through value-based education. This April edition of our newsletter brings you stories from the ground that reflect the breadth and depth of our work.

Building a Home for Learning — Boys Hostel in Anandabazar, Tripura

In the serene region of Anandabazar in Tripura, a new initiative is taking shape that carries the promise of brighter opportunities for tribal youth. India Tribal Care Trust has begun the construction of a boys' hostel designed to support students from remote tribal villages who often face great challenges in accessing education.

For many children in these communities, long distances, limited facilities, and economic hardships make it difficult to pursue consistent schooling. The upcoming hostel aims to provide a safe and nurturing residential space where young boys can stay while continuing their studies with stability and encouragement.

More than just a building, this hostel represents a foundation for growth — where education, values, and cultural identity can flourish together. With the collective support of volunteers, well-wishers, and community members, this initiative seeks to open new pathways for tribal students, empowering them to pursue their aspirations while remaining connected to their rich heritage.

Creating Opportunities — New Girls Hostel in Anandabazar, Tripura

In a significant step toward supporting education for tribal girls, India Tribal Care Trust is establishing a new girls' hostel in Anandabazar, Tripura. This initiative seeks to provide young girls from remote tribal communities with a safe and supportive environment where they can continue their education with confidence and stability.

Many talented girls in these regions face barriers such as distance, lack of facilities, and social challenges that limit their access to consistent schooling. The new hostel aims to address these challenges by creating a nurturing space where students can focus on learning while receiving guidance and encouragement.

Beyond accommodation, the hostel will become a place where young girls can grow with dignity, education, and strong cultural values. Through such initiatives, ITCT continues its mission of empowering tribal communities while nurturing the aspirations of the next generation.

A New Beginning — School at Khasmaipara, Gumati

In the tribal region of Khasmaipara in Gumati, a new chapter of hope is unfolding with the establishment of a new school supported by India Tribal Care Trust. This initiative seeks to bring accessible and nurturing education to children from remote tribal communities where opportunities for schooling are often limited.

Across many parts of Tripura's hilly and interior regions, children often face challenges in continuing their education due to distance, difficult terrain, and limited educational infrastructure. Efforts like this aim to bridge that gap by creating a supportive environment where children can learn with encouragement and care.

Along with academic learning, the school is also nurturing spiritual and value-based education inspired by the teachings of the Vedic tradition. Through simple devotional practices, cultural learning, and character-building guidance, the children are introduced to principles of compassion, discipline, and devotion while remaining connected to their cultural heritage.

More than a building, this school represents a doorway to opportunity — offering tribal children the chance to grow with knowledge, strong values, and spiritual grounding. Through such initiatives, ITCT continues to walk alongside tribal communities, supporting the aspirations of the next generation while honoring the rich heritage of the region.

Empowering Futures — Computer Training Program at Bhakti Vedant National School, Purulia

In the scenic region of Ayodhya Hills in Purulia district, West Bengal, a meaningful step towards digital empowerment has begun at Bhakti Vedant National School. Starting from April 2026, India Tribal Care Trust has initiated a computer training program aimed at equipping tribal students with essential digital skills for a better future.

With a batch of 11 students enrolled in March, the program is currently being conducted with 11 computers, ensuring individual access to hands-on learning. Guided by a dedicated teacher, the training sessions are held three days a week, focusing on building a strong foundation in basic computer education.

In today's world, digital literacy plays a crucial role in opening doors to employment and livelihood opportunities. This initiative is designed to prepare students with practical skills that can support their aspirations and help them become self-reliant.

More than just technical training, this program represents a step toward empowerment — where knowledge, confidence, and opportunity come together. Through such efforts, India Tribal Care Trust continues its commitment to nurturing the potential of tribal youth and supporting them in building a dignified and sustainable future.

Nurturing Young Lives — Tribal Boys Hostel at Katlichera

In 2026, a new chapter of care and support has begun at Katlichera with the welcoming of 33 tribal students into a dedicated hostel initiative by India Tribal Care Trust. This effort is focused on providing young boys from underserved tribal communities with a stable and nurturing environment where they can grow, learn, and thrive.

The hostel is home to children between the ages of 7 and 15, offering them essential support such as nutritious food, safe accommodation, clothing, and basic amenities. While the students attend nearby government schools for their formal education, the hostel ensures that their everyday needs are met with care and consistency. Parents contribute a nominal amount of ₹500 per month, making the initiative accessible while ITCT supports the larger responsibility of their well-being.

A unique aspect of this initiative is its strong emphasis on value-based and spiritual education. Each day, students engage in structured learning for two hours in the morning and two hours in the evening. These sessions include kirtan, chanting, mantras, shloka recitation, and study of the Bhagavad Gita, helping instill discipline, cultural awareness, and inner strength.

The hostel is supported by a small yet dedicated team, including a caretaker, a teacher who guides the students in their spiritual and personal development, and a cook who ensures nourishing meals are prepared daily. All three are supported by India Tribal Care Trust, ensuring the smooth functioning of the initiative.

Holistic Growth in Action — Tribal Students Hostel at Fulkusuma, Bankura

In the rural region of Fulkusuma in Bankura district, West Bengal, India Tribal Care Trust continues its commitment to nurturing young minds through a well-rounded residential initiative for tribal students. Currently, the hostel is home to 35 boys studying between 4th and 10th standard, providing them with a structured and supportive environment for both academic and personal growth.

With a nominal contribution of ₹500 per month from parents, the initiative ensures that students receive essential care, including accommodation, three wholesome meals (prasadam) daily, and consistent academic support. To strengthen their educational foundation, students attend tuition classes twice a day, helping them stay aligned with their school curriculum and build confidence in their studies.

Beyond academics, the hostel emphasizes discipline, character-building, and cultural values. Daily morning and evening prayers form an integral part of the routine, creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere for the children. Additionally, students are introduced to the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita through guided sessions where they learn shlokas and gain insights into timeless wisdom.

Adding to their overall development, karate training sessions are conducted twice a week, helping students build physical strength, focus, and self-discipline. These activities contribute to a balanced upbringing — where mental, physical, and spiritual well-being are nurtured together.

More than just a residential facility, the Fulkusuma hostel serves as a space where young boys are guided toward a brighter future with education, values, and confidence. Through such initiatives, India Tribal Care Trust continues to empower tribal students, helping them grow into responsible and capable individuals while staying rooted in their cultural heritage.
