Every year tells a story. For India Tribal Care Trust, 2025-26 is a chapter of quiet, determined progress across some of the most under-served regions of India. The trust's 2025-26 Annual Brochure, titled Bridging the Gap Between Tribal India and Opportunity, captures that story in numbers, in faces, and in the daily work of teams who show up, year after year, to serve communities that mainstream development often forgets. A Tagline That Says It All

At the heart of the 2025-26 brochure is a simple but powerful idea: opportunity should not stop at the edge of a forest, a mountain, or a remote district. The tagline — Bridging the Gap Between Tribal India and Opportunity — frames the trust's work across its four focus areas. The visual language is equally deliberate. Tribal communities are shown not as recipients of charity, but as active partners in their own development, surrounded by the cultural and natural landscapes that have shaped their identities for generations. The brochure's design, portraits, and statistics all reinforce a single message: development that ignores tribal identity is not development at all.

The Numbers Behind the Year

The numbers in this year's brochure are more than statistics. They are lives reached, classrooms opened, and families cared for. Across 149 villages spanning 29 districts, ITCT's network of 150+ schools and pathshalas educated 17,000 students, with 1,158+ students now studying in formal schools. In the same period, mobile healthcare units and ambulance support brought medical relief to remote regions, with 3,108+ patients receiving free treatment and medicines. These figures are not simply outputs to be celebrated at an annual review. They represent a year in which children who might have dropped out stayed in school, mothers who might have lost children to preventable illness received timely care, and families who might have migrated in search of work found a reason to stay home. Behind each number is a real family, in a real village, whose life was changed by a programme that someone chose to fund and someone else chose to run.

Education: Building Foundations That Last

Education remains the foundation of ITCT's mission. The trust has established 15+ schools and helped revive several more, while running 130+ pathshalas in remote villages where formal schooling rarely reaches. Children are supported with mid-day meals, hostel facilities, and scholarships, while digital classrooms and value-based education are steadily expanding the learning experience for a new generation. Each pathshala is designed to fit the rhythm of the community it serves: classes in the local language alongside Hindi or the regional language, teachers recruited from nearby villages, and where hostels exist, three meals a day, evening tutorials, and structured time for cultural activities. The mid-day meal in particular has proven to be one of the most powerful enrolment and retention tools — when parents know their child will be fed, the calculus of sending them to school changes completely.

For ₹6,000 a year, you can educate a tribal child through ITCT's pathshala network for an entire year. Healthcare: Reaching the Unreached

In India's most remote tribal regions, healthcare is not a phone call or a fifteen-minute auto ride. It can be a full day's journey on foot, by boat, or on bad roads that vanish with the first monsoon. ITCT's healthcare pillar is designed to bridge that gap. Recently, 30+ health camps have been conducted in tribal areas, and 16,000+ tribal people have benefited from mobile medical units reaching deep rural regions. Free medicines and ambulance services are provided where needed. Health camps bring general physicians, gynaecologists, paediatricians, and dental teams into villages for a day or two, treating dozens, sometimes hundreds, of patients in a single session. Where serious conditions are identified, the trust's network of local volunteers ensures that referrals are followed up. Ambulance services in particular have transformed emergency care in regions where the only previous option was a bullock cart and a prayer.

Empowerment and Social Care: Beyond the Basics

The third pillar of ITCT's work goes beyond classrooms and clinics. Vocational training in tailoring, food processing, beekeeping, and computer skills give tribal youth the tools they need to earn a livelihood close to home. Clean water and food distribution efforts tackle the most basic determinants of health and dignity, while women empowerment initiatives — self-help groups, micro-enterprise training, and savings collectives — have a measurable impact on the economic resilience of entire families. Cultural preservation programmes ensure that development does not come at the cost of identity: tribal languages, traditional crafts, music, and community rituals are actively supported. These programmes are deliberately designed to be community-led, with local volunteers trained as trainers and decisions taken in village committees, creating a model of empowerment that does not create dependency.
