Empowering Tribal Women: Tailoring Initiatives and Self-Reliance
In remote forest villages, economic opportunities for women have historically been limited to seasonal subsistence farming and forest produce collection. When dry seasons arrive, agricultural work decreases, placing financial pressure on rural households.
To support financial self-reliance and skill development, the India Tribal Care Trust (ITCT) established its Tailoring and Livelihood Training Program. By setting up village-level vocational centers equipped with sewing machines and experienced instructors, ITCT helps tribal women learn valuable vocational skills.

Inside ITCT tailoring centers, women and teenage girls receive practical instruction in garment cutting, stitching, and machine maintenance:
- Basic & Advanced Stitching: Learning to craft basic household items, blouses, traditional garments, and children's clothing.
- School Uniform Production: Trainees assist in stitching uniforms for ITCT-supported schools, creating direct local work opportunities.
